Campaigns are a chance to gain a lot of responsibility very quickly and to meet others who share your progressive ideals. Staffers have held positions from field operative to fundraiser to researcher, press secretary and even campaign manager. Participants may find themselves monitoring the press, researching a candidate, knocking on doors asking people for their votes, organizing an event -- and the list goes on. Campaigns are just as heavy in fun and intensity as they are in long hours and hard work.
The campaigns participants work for provide free housing for each participant. You might be put up with a friend of the candidate or with another staff member... or you could have some other arrangement altogether. Bottom line -- you'll have a comfortable place to rest your head at the end of your jam-packed day, but be prepared to be flexible!
"I would recommend the program to anyone! Campaign School was intense and thorough and the campaign placement gave me the opportunity to put it all to use immediately. The friends I made will last a lifetime and the skills I learned have helped me get jobs on campaigns, in government and private industry. You just can't get this kind of experience any where else!"
