Dole attempts to name AIDS bill after Jesse Helms

Sen. Elizabeth Dole introduced an amendment earlier this week to name an AIDS bill after the late Sen. Jesse Helms, a long time opponent to AIDS education, prevention and awareness. Although the amendment failed to come up for a vote, the move caused a stir among AIDS activists.
