Ledbetter Fair Pay Act draws passionate responses from Senate Democrats
After Senate Republicans killed pay disparity legislation last Wednesday, Senator Barbara Milkulski (D-MD) responded, “Women of America: Put your lipstick on, square your shoulders, suit up… The revolution starts tonight.” The legislation was proposed in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to throw out a discrimination case involving Lilly Ledbetter, for whom the legislation was named. The bill would have ended limits on the time during which an employee can sue his or her employer for pay discrimination.
