Female political donors have historic impact on 2008 elections

Women campaign donors are now a force to be reckoned with, a fact that reflects a major change in women’s political involvement. Historically, women have volunteered for candidates and written small checks, but the number of major women donors this year is at an all-time high. For Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign, 61 percent of donors who have given between $200 and $1000 are women. EMILY’s List, the largest political action committee in the country, has been instrumental in this new trend. With more ownership in the political process, it’s certain that women donors will have a major effect on this year’s elections and in the future.
