Shaheen Offers Mortgage Solution
As Congress searches for ways to solve the subprime lending crisis, Jeanne Shaheen, EMILY’s List candidate running for the U.S. Senate in New Hampshire, is offering solutions that will end the crisis now. "I think there has been a reluctance to recognize the ripple effect the subprime mortgage crisis has had on the rest of the economy," Shaheen, the former governor of New Hampshire, said. Her plan involves letting housing authorities refinance mortgages and increasing caps on revenue bonds. Shaheen knows that by ending the mortgage crisis our economy will be better able to avoid recession in the coming months.
