Week of August 24, 2004

A vote for Betty is a vote for Kerry

With only a week until the August 31 primary, Betty Castor is charging full-force ahead in her race to win Florida's open U.S. Senate seat. Democratic Cong. Peter Deutsch continues to run a dirty campaign against Castor, using his multi-million dollar warchest to distract voters from her outstanding record of public service and message of hope for Florida's children. You can help Betty stave off Deutsch's negative attacks in these final days before the primary. Betty must raise $60,000 a day to get her positive message on the air.

EMILY's List members know that winning this primary is not just critical for Florida's future; a win for Betty next week will help build enthusiasm, particularly among women voters, that will boost John Kerry in November. Early voting has already begun in Florida's primary!

Karen White to chat with members of Team EMILY

EMILY's List National Political Director Karen White will join members of Team EMILY for an exclusive online chat on August 31, the week of the Republican National Convention. Karen's work with EMILY's List's groundbreaking Women's Monitor poll and the WOMEN VOTE! project will make this chat an informative and inspiring relief from the influx of praise about George W. Bush that will flood the airwaves during the Republican Convention. You must be a member of Team EMILY to submit questions, but signing up is easy!

March for Women's Lives - take two!

Planned Parenthood and other national pro-choice groups are turning up the heat on the GOP just days before the Republican National Convention next week. On August 28, thousands will march for choice across the Brooklyn Bridge and send a message to each and every Republican in New York City and across the country that women's reproductive rights are at stake in the 2004 election.

This march comes only four months after the March for Women's Lives in April, which brought over a million dedicated pro-choice activists to Washington, D.C.. If you missed your chance to participate in April's historic event, now is your chance to help make history again - this time in the Big Apple! Click here to march for women's lives on August 28 and keep choice alive this November.
