EMILY's List Endorses Teresa Daly in Minnesota's Second Congressional District

Washington, DC -- EMILY's List, the largest financial resource for women running for elected office, today announced its support for Burnsville City Councilwoman Teresa Daly in her race in Minnesota's 2nd congressional district.

The experience Teresa Daly has gained through her career and her time in political office uniquely qualifies her to take on the challenges facing families in the 2nd district. As a human resources specialist, Daly helped people find jobs; as a member of the city council, she focused on providing tax relief and balancing the budget.

"Teresa Daly has spent her career working to help members of her community and has first-hand knowledge of the struggles facing the people of the 2nd district. She has the right profile to represent them in Congress and will fight in Washington, D.C., to improve the lives of working families in Minnesota," said Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY's List.

Daly's campaign for Congress is focused on bringing benefits to the people of the 2nd district by fostering economic development in suffering communities, improving educational opportunities, and expanding access to affordable health care.

"My campaign has gathered strong support from people who are eager to have a congresswoman who will fight for the 2nd district. I am proud to accept the endorsement of EMILY's List as my campaign continues to grow," Teresa Daly said.

In its 19-year history, EMILY's List has grown to over 90,000 members nationwide who have helped elect seven women governors, 11 women to the United States Senate and 56 women to the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 2002 elections, EMILY's List, which then had almost 73,000 members, contributed nearly $9.7 million to pro-choice Democratic women candidates; members contributed $23 million to fund EMILY's List operations and political program, including the nationwide WOMEN VOTE! project to mobilize women voters on behalf of Democrats.
