EMILY’s List Presents: Boehner’s America

Don’t let John Boehner and the Republicans Turn Back the Clock for Women

Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, today announced a vehicle for educating and inspiring voters: Boehner's America, which frames the election as a crucial choice for women and their futures for the last 26 days of the 2010 campaign.

"This year may be the first year in 30 years that the number of women in Congress decreases," said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List. "The outcome of which would be truly devastating: Speaker John Boehner. John Boehner and the extreme Republican majority he would lead cannot wait to reverse the advances of the past 30 years. They want to make being a woman a pre-existing condition again, make sick children vulnerable, abandon Social Security and criminalize a woman’s right to choose. John Boehner can only take the Speaker's gavel from Nancy Pelosi by defeating Democratic women across the country."

"Today EMILY's List launches Boehner's America, an extensive online presence featuring an interactive website, video and social networking component, and online advertising. Boehner's America frames the choice women have in the next 26 days. It's the choice between a Congress led by John Boehner and dominated by backwards-looking extremists or a Congress led by Nancy Pelosi that will protect the progress women have made in America. It is crucial that in the final stretch women across the country stand up and say no to the anti-woman, anti-family agenda promoted by John Boehner and the extremist Republican candidates of 2010."

The Boehner's America get-out-the-vote push will target Democratic women, a segment of the electorate we know to be vital in this election.
