EMILY's List Endorses Alice Kryzan in New York's 26th Congressional District
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, one of the nation's largest political action committees and financial resources for women running for elected office, today announced its endorsement of Alice Kryzan in New York’s 26th congressional district.
"Alice Kryzan has the experience, passion and judgment to tackle the serious issues facing western New York," said Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY's List. "Her experience as a community leader, environmental attorney and advocate for change make her the right person to represent New York’s 26th district. EMILY's List and our members are proud to support Alice Kryzan as she works to become the first woman to represent this district and as she shares her expertise and leadership with her community, the state of New York, and the U.S. Congress."
Alice Kryzan is committed to finding alternative energy solutions, establishing universal health care, and implementing a responsible plan for bringing American troops home from Iraq. Kryzan's tenacious attitude has helped her pave her own path in life: as a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, she eventually became the first woman partner of a large firm in Buffalo. After three decades of working within the community and representing local businesses, municipalities, and citizens, Kryzan knows the value of collaboration and hard work that gets results.
From the beginning of her campaign, Kryzan has proven her strength of character and independent voice by sticking to the issues that matter most. An advocate for education, Kryzan believes that a college education should be more affordable and is committed to increasing the maximum for Pell Grants, and creating new tuition tax credits. She will work to reverse the failed mandates of No Child Left Behind and let teachers teach and give schools the ability to address the needs of their students. Her record proves that she will also be a champion for women when she goes to Congress, where she will continue to work to protect women’s health and improve the lives of women and families across the district.
"I am honored to have the support of thousands of EMILY's List members from across New York and around the country," said Kryzan. "It is time to re-evaluate our priorities at home and demand real results for the people of western New York. We need a representative who will work to make this district stronger and our country safer, and I will do just that in Congress."
With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million to elect 71 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 23 years, EMILY's List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
