A dedicated community leader fighting for Pennsylvanians
Christina Hartman is a dedicated community leader running for Congress to fight for Pennsylvania working families. Christina grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where her mother was a first grade teacher, her father worked as a store manager, and her grandparents were small business owners. Her family taught her the importance of public service from an early age, and taught her that “we are all valuable and we all have something to offer,” she has said. Christina chose a career of service, and from South Sudan to Afghanistan, she has helped organizations strengthen their countries’ democracies through civic education, elections, and youth leadership development. She brings her strategic planning expertise from around the globe to her home community of Lancaster, where she serves non-profit organizations that strengthen Pennsylvania communities and help working families thrive.
A champion for Pennsylvania’s working families
Christina is running to expand economic opportunity for all hardworking Pennsylvanians. When elected, she will fight for policies that create good-paying jobs and that balance the sustainability of central Pennsylvania’s proud agricultural traditions with economic growth. Christina is a pro-choice champion and a powerful advocate for increasing access to affordable, quality health care, and will fight back against Republicans’ attempts to undo the progress we’ve worked so hard to make. Coverage for pre-existing conditions is deeply personal for Christina, whose husband, Martin, is a cancer survivor. When elected, she will fight for all the working families whose economic security could be destroyed with one diagnosis if the GOP gets their way. A proud graduate of the Manheim Township public schools, Christina is deeply committed to expanding access to quality education so that all central Pennsylvania students can succeed in our global economy. She is an experienced advocate for freedom and democracy, and she is ready to bring her negotiating and relationship-building skills to Congress and get the job done for Keystone State women and families.
An opportunity to flip a seat
Christina is running against Republican first-term incumbent Congressman Lloyd Smucker, an extremist who has repeatedly sought to throw millions of Americans off their health insurance, defund Planned Parenthood, and to make working families pay for the ultra-rich’s tax cuts. This is a district where Donald Trump only narrowly beat Hillary Clinton in 2016, and this race is a must-win on the path to taking back the House in 2018. Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation has no women, and Christina is poised to give Keystone State women a voice in Washington. Let’s show her our full support, and help elect this champion for Pennsylvania working families to Congress — and let’s take back the House.
