EMILY's List Announces First Round of Wisconsin Legislative Endorsements Ahead of August Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, made its first round of Wisconsin Legislative endorsements ahead of the August 14th primary, endorsing 10 women leaders for the Wisconsin state Legislature. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“As small business owners, teachers, community leaders, and fierce advocates for Wisconsin families, these incredible pro-choice Democratic women have spent their lives devoted to empowering those around them. They are the strongest candidates to flip the state Senate from red to blue, lead progress in the state Assembly, and usher in long overdue change for Wisconsin families. EMILYs List is proud to endorse them.”

EMILYs List endorsed the following slate of candidates:

Senator Janet Bewley (SD-25)
Julie Henszey (SD-05)
Lee Snodgrass (SD-19)
Jodi Emerson (AD-91)
Wendy Sue Johnson (AD-68)
Brittany Keyes (AD-31)
Alyson Leahy (AD-85)
Representative Beth Meyers (AD-74)
Liz Sumner (AD-23)
Robyn Vining (AD-14)

This is not the first time EMILY's List has been active in electing pro-choice Democratic women to the Wisconsin state legislature this cycle. EMILY's List also helped ensure the special election wins of Senator Patty Schachtner (SD-10) and Representative Greta Neubauer (AD-66) earlier this year.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
