EMILYs List Endorses Brynne Kennedy in California’s 4th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Brynne Kennedy in California’s 4th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to endorse Brynne Kennedy in California’s 4th Congressional District. Brynne is a driven and fearless leader who has never shied away from a challenge. A businesswoman who overcame extreme adversity and unequal pay to start a successful business and a nonprofit organization, she is an innovative thinker who uses her own lived experiences to improve the lives of others. As the daughter of two cancer survivors, Brynne understands the challenges of our health care system. When she becomes the first woman tech founder and CEO elected to Congress, she will fight to increase the accessibility of health care, create jobs in her district, and protect California’s parks and natural resources. We look forward to helping Brynne turn this district blue in November.”

Brynne Kennedy grew up in a rural community that struggled in the aftermath of manufacturing plant closures. Brynne was a competitive gymnast who won three state championships and qualified for the US National Junior Elite Training Team before an injury ended her Olympic aspirations. Brynne graduated from Yale University, and worked on financing infrastructure and housing projects in high-growth communities across the world. Brynne founded a global software company that pioneered new tools to help more businesses compete in a changing economy and to help tens of thousands of workers transition into new jobs and communities. Brynne is an author and a former columnist for the Financial Times. She is also the founder of Mobility4All, a charitable initiative that supported refugees displaced by political conflict and environmental disruptions. Brynne lives in Roseville, California.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 55,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
