EMILYs List Endorses Erin Collier in New York's 19th District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Erin Collier for Congress in New York's 19th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Erin Collier is a fifth-generation farmer from Cooperstown who is running for Congress to fight for New York’s working families and expand economic opportunity. Growing up on a farm, she learned to deeply value hard work and helping others in her community. Erin has spent her career helping to feed people around the world, including through projects under the Obama administration. Now, she wants to work on behalf of her community in Congress.

“Erin is running in a crowded primary to face Republican Congressman John Faso, a vulnerable freshman incumbent who supports President Trump’s harmful agenda. She is mounting a strong campaign to hold Rep. Faso accountable in a district with a powerful grassroots movement of New Yorkers ready to send him packing. Let’s show Erin the full support of the EMILYs List community so we can take back the House.”

Erin Collier used her knowledge and experience growing up on a Cooperstown farm to help feed people around the world, working as an agricultural economist on projects under the Obama administration and on international human trafficking issues for the United Nations. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University and obtained her master’s degree from Michigan State University, paying for her education with waitressing jobs and student loans. EMILYs List is proud to announce that Erin is our 50th active U.S. House endorsement this election cycle.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
