EMILYs List Endorses Kathy Manning for North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District

Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kathy Manning for North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to endorse Kathy Manning for Congress. Throughout her career, Kathy has proven that she can cut through the noise and get the job done. From driving the effort to help families regain their footing after the Great Recession to serving as the first woman to lead one of the world’s largest charitable, faith-based organizations, Kathy is a skilled leader who will fight for progress. She understands firsthand the challenges North Carolinians face, and EMILYs List is confident she will be the advocate the 6th Congressional District needs in Congress.”

Kathy Manning is an experienced leader running for Congress to fight for North Carolina working families. Kathy moved to Greensboro after graduating from law school more than 30 years ago, and she and her husband have raised their three children in the vibrant community they proudly call home. A former immigration attorney, she left the major law firm where she had been a partner for 15 years to start her own practice. Kathy has worked tirelessly to serve others and was the first woman to lead one of the largest charitable organizations in the world, The Jewish Federations of North America. She also helped those who lost their jobs during the Great Recession access food, health care, mortgage assistance, and job retraining. A powerful advocate for North Carolinians, she has worked to provide school readiness programs for vulnerable children, to help students in her community access higher education, and to help seniors live with dignity.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state and national offices.
