EMILYs List Endorses Molly Kelly for Governor of New Hampshire

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Molly Kelly for governor of New Hampshire. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Molly Kelly is an experienced leader and a tireless fighter who knows the challenges working families face because she’s experienced them herself. She worked while pursuing her bachelor’s degree as a single mother – a balance that anyone who’s been through knows is extremely challenging. She went on to serve as a state senator, focusing on ways to improve economic opportunities for Granite Staters, including policies around education, health care and workforce development training.

“Governor Chris Sununu has repeatedly failed to stand up for women’s health care access, instead aligning himself with the divisive policies of Donald Trump. With so much at stake, Sununu's inability to stand up for Granite State families when it counts cannot be tolerated. The outcome of this election will have far-reaching effects in this swing state and beyond. EMILYs List is proud to stand with Molly Kelly in this fight for a better future for the people of New Hampshire.”

As the second of 11 children, Molly Kelly learned from her mother and father, a World War II veteran, the value of hard work and community service, principles that have guided Molly throughout her life. When she was a single mother, she worked her way through Keene State College to make ends meet. She went on to receive her law degree at the Franklin Pierce Law Center and embark on a successful professional career that included working as a financial advisor and running a nonprofit health care organization. Molly then served five terms in the New Hampshire state Senate, leading efforts to strengthen for the state’s K-12 and higher education systems. Since leaving office in 2016, she has worked with the Center for Civic Engagement to address challenges facing the community. Molly lives in Harrisville with her husband and has a daughter, three sons, and seven grandchildren.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
