EMILYs List Endorses Nancy Soderberg in Florida's 6th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Nancy Soderberg for Congress in Florida's 6th District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“A former deputy national security adviser to President Clinton and ambassador to the United Nations, Nancy Soderberg knows what it means to take on tough jobs. She has used her positions to advocate change, move our country forward, and defend the rights of our citizens. In her current role as a professor at the University of North Florida and a small business owner, she is deeply invested in her community and will do what it takes to ensure that the working families of the 6th District have a voice in Washington. Nancy will fight for access to quality health care, affordable higher education, and commonsense policies that will protect our environment.

“It's time for a representative who will actually fight for working families, which is why EMILY's List is strongly supporting Nancy Soderberg for Congress.”
Nancy served as the third ranking official of the National Security Council at the White House as deputy assistant to the president for national security affairs. President Bill Clinton next appointed her to serve as alternate representative to the United Nations in 1997, with the rank of Ambassador. She has over a decade of executive leadership experience in global organizations, and is a powerful advocate for conflict prevention and resolution. President Barack Obama appointed Nancy to serve as chair of the Public Interest Declassification Board in 2011, and she worked tirelessly to increase transparency in national security decisions. Nancy currently serves as a professor of foreign policy and director of the public service leadership program at the University of North Florida and is president and CEO of Soderberg Global Solutions, an international consulting firm. She is an author, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves on the board of advisors to the president of the Naval Postgraduate School and Naval War College.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
