EMILYs List Endorses Quinn Nystrom in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Quinn Nystrom in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Quinn Nystrom in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District. Quinn is a trailblazer and leader who served as the national youth advocate for the American Diabetes Association as a teenger and became the youngest person elected to the Baxter City Council at age 28. Minnesotans deserve a compassionate representative, like Quinn, with a firsthand understanding of the importance of protecting small businesses, working families, and access to affordable health care. During COVID-19, Quinn and her husband cut their engagement short and got married early so that she could afford insulin under his health insurance plan. In Congress, Quinn will champion the issues that matter most to her community, and we are proud to stand with her.”

Quinn Nystrom is a health care advocate and community leader running for Congress to fight for Minnesota working families. At a young age, Quinn and her brother were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The American Diabetes Association selected her to be their national youth advocate when she was a teenager, and she traveled the country to raise awareness of this chronic condition. Quinn is now a speaker, writer, and consultant, and she has dedicated her career to public service by advocating for accessible health care and affordable prescription drug coverage. When she was 28, she became the youngest person and only woman at the time to serve on the Baxter City Council. A fourth-generation resident of Crow Wing County, Quinn has deep roots in the community she and her husband Paul are proud to call home.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
