EMILYs List Endorses Tina Smith for U.S. Senate in Minnesota

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Tina Smith for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

Tina’s experience in Minnesota — from her work protecting women’s access to care as a vice president of Planned Parenthood Minnesota and the Dakotas, to her success creating jobs, strengthening the economy, and expanding access to early education while serving as lieutenant governor in the state — immensely qualifies her for this role.

Tina Smith is a champion for Minnesota working families running for the United States Senate to continue fighting for economic opportunity and fairness. Raised in a family with a strong tradition of public service, she volunteered for campaigns and causes and has served as vice president of Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. As Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota, Tina fought tirelessly to expand economic opportunity for all Minnesotans. She led a multi-billion dollar public-private partnership to create tens of thousands of good paying Minnesota jobs over the next 20 years, and she has championed policies to support job growth across the state—including the expansion of rural broadband access.
 
Tina is fighting to hold this critical seat in 2018 as control of the Senate hangs in the balance. She was appointed to this seat because she was ready to lead from day one, and she is working tirelessly to tackle the toughest problems facing hardworking Minnesotans.
