EMILYs List's Women Vote Program Announces Multi-Million Dollar Program to Support Kamala Harris

WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILYs List’s independent expenditure program Women Vote is proud to announce a $5.5 million program to help define Senator Kamala Harris with women voters.

As the first Black and Asian American woman to be nominated for vice president, Harris is positioned to break glass ceilings and inspire voters across the country. We are thrilled about her historic candidacy, but we also know the challenges she faces in media coverage, online misogyny, abuse, racism, and sexism in the electorate, particularly as the Trump campaign moves to focus the election on her in his continued efforts to demonize women of color.

We are proud to be working with our partner organizations BlackPAC, PACRONYM and Planned Parenthood Votes in an eight-figure program to introduce her to women voters with positive messaging on her record. Our portion of this partnership is a $5.5 million digital-first independent expenditure program to begin as voting starts in battleground states. Women Vote is targeting women of color and white women under 40 who are considered base Democratic voters but need further outreach to ensure their participation.

“Kamala Harris is a qualified, groundbreaking nominee, a huge asset to the ticket, and a phenomenal leader. Donald Trump is a president who has failed at managing all of the challenges facing this country. He cannot run on his record, so he has fallen back on the basest of his instincts: falsely attacking a woman with racist and sexist tropes meant to ‘other’ her,” said Stephanie Schriock, EMILYs List president.

“This election is too important to take any voter for granted. We believe women will decide this election, but we need to ensure that they know the truth about Senator Harris’ fantastic record. This unprecedented campaign will not just push back on disinformation and racist, sexist attacks. It will do what EMILYs List is made for: tell the story of a woman leader ready to make change.”

The first ad demonstrates Harris' ability to combat challenges and her leadership on women’s health care, education, and LGBTQ+ rights. The ad, “Chucks” shows the kind of role model she will be for the next generation of young women and women of color who will finally see themselves represented at the highest levels of government.
