New Women Vote TV Ad: George Holding Puts Special Interests First, Linda Coleman Will Fight for Rights and Health of Hardworking North Carolinians

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY's List independent expenditure arm Women Vote released a new ad contrasting George Holding's record of putting special interests, like big insurance companies, ahead of North Carolinians, with Linda Coleman's deep roots in her community and commitment to working families.

The Women Vote ad can be viewed here and will begin running this week. The total buy is more than $400,000.

“The contrast between George Holding, a man who has broken promises to his constituents and put special interests first, and Linda Coleman, a woman who has worked in and for her community, is stark,” said Christina Reynolds, EMILYs List vice president of communications. “Instead of going to Washington to work for his constituents, Holding voted to give big companies tax breaks while collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in special interest cash. That's why come November, voters will choose Linda Coleman, who will represent the values of honesty and hard work that she grew up with in North Carolina in Congress.”

SCRIPT: “Lied”

VO: George Holding lied.

Holding: “I’m not gonna take any money from special interest PACs.”

VO: Then took hundreds of thousands from insurance and pharmaceutical companies…

…and promptly voted to give big pharma a $42 billion tax break…

North Carolina deserves better than two-faced George Holding.

Linda Coleman grew up working the Carolina tobacco fields…has been a teacher…

…and will fight for the rights and health of hardworking North Carolinians.

Linda Coleman is honest hard work.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
