Women Vote and BlackPAC Announce Joint $500,000 Program in North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District Race

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Women Vote, the independent expenditure arm of EMILYs List, and BlackPAC unveiled a joint $500,000 program in the competitive race between Pat Timmons-Goodson and Congressman Richard Hudson. The first radio ad will run until Election Day on November 3.

“Pat Timmons-Goodson’s long career as a public servant comprises many firsts, but what makes her so special is her commitment to ensuring that she is not the last. Pat is a champion for justice who will fight to ensure that every working family is given an equal shot at success,” said Melissa Williams, vice president of independent expenditures at EMILYs List. “Congressman Richard Hudson doesn’t represent North Carolinians’ values, and the proof is in his voting record. Hudson has voted in favor of providing tax breaks for billionaires and against affordable health care and equal pay protections for women. While Hudson has benefitted from a gerrymandered district in the past, we are confident that voters in this newly-drawn district will make their voices heard this November in favor of Pat Timmons-Goodson.”

“This fall, voters are looking up and down the ballot for leaders who will restore moral leadership to Washington and deliver solutions to the most pressing problems in their communities. Pat Timmons-Goodson has broken barriers and fought for justice for her entire career, and she’s the right leader to take on the enormous issues our country faces,” said Adrianne Shropshire, Executive Director of BlackPAC. “We’re proud to partner with Women Vote on this effort to reach voters where they are. When she gets to Congress, Pat Timmons-Goodson will play a crucial role in addressing the three-pronged crisis facing our democracy, from the COVID-19 pandemic, its economic fallout and the defense of Black lives.”
